Challenger DX77 — 7,700 lb Double Scissor Lift

The Challenger DX77 is a 7,700 lb capacity double scissor lift designed for express service, tire shops, body shops, and any bay where unrestricted 360-degree vehicle access is critical. Unlike traditional 2-post and 4-post lifts, the DX77's crossmember-free design eliminates all overhead obstructions between the two platforms, giving technicians clear, uncluttered access to the entire undercarriage, wheels, brakes, exhaust, and suspension. The dual scissor mechanism lifts on two independent 24½-inch wide platforms spaced 21 to 27 inches apart, with each platform supporting up to 3,850 lbs. The 2HP power unit raises the full rated capacity to working height in just 43 seconds.

Surface Mount or Flush Mount Installation

The DX77 is available in two installation types to match your shop's needs. The standard surface mount (DX77-SURF) sits on top of the existing concrete floor with a lowered height of just 4½ inches and a maximum rise of 74½ inches. The flush mount (DX77-FLUSH) recesses the entire scissor mechanism into the floor for a completely level drive-over surface when lowered, with a 70-inch rise height. Flush mount requires the DX77-FM flush mount kit and must be installed before the concrete is poured — it cannot be retrofitted. Both models share the same 7,700 lb capacity, 43-second rise time, and crossmember-free working area.

Standard Equipment and EV Compatibility

Every DX77 ships with reinforced diamond plate front and rear access ramps that flip up and lock to extend the effective platform length for longer wheelbase vehicles, a set of four 3-inch and four 1½-inch rubber spotting blocks for precise vehicle positioning, and a power unit console with three simple momentary push-button controls (UP, DOWN, LOCK RELEASE). The single point air actuated lock release operates on 90–120 PSI shop air for smooth, effortless height changes. An optional extended ramp kit is available for low-profile vehicles. The DX77 also supports wide platform spacing for electric vehicles — platforms can be spaced beyond the standard 27-inch maximum to accommodate EVs with wider battery pack footprints when following the DX77-SUP-T supplement.

Installation and Bay Requirements

The DX77 requires a minimum 4-inch reinforced concrete slab rated to 3,500 PSI, cured at least 28 days, and free from cracks or seams at anchor points. Electrical service requires a dedicated 208–230V, single-phase, 30-amp circuit with a double-pole breaker or time delay fuse. The lift requires 90–120 PSI clean, dry compressed air for the air-operated lock release. Challenger recommends a minimum bay size of 12 feet wide by 28 feet deep with a 12-foot ceiling. The lift is rated for indoor use only in environments between 41°F and 104°F. Professional installation is recommended, and flush mount installations require advance planning as the DX77-FM kit must be set before the concrete pour.

Before You Buy

Concrete Slab Requirements

Requires minimum 4-inch reinforced concrete rated to 3,500 PSI, cured at least 28 days. Floor must be level within ⅜ inch. No anchors within 8 inches of cracks, edges, or expansion joints. Flush mount requires concrete specifications met during the pour.

Compressed Air Required

The air-operated lock release requires 90-120 PSI clean, dry compressed air. Ensure your shop compressor meets this requirement before installation. The lift cannot operate its lock release without compressed air.

Surface Mount vs Flush Mount

The surface mount installs on existing concrete. The flush mount recesses into the floor for a level drive-over surface but requires the DX77-FM kit installed BEFORE the concrete is poured — it cannot be retrofitted to an existing floor. Choose your installation type carefully before ordering.

Electrical Requirements

Requires a dedicated 30-amp circuit on 208-230V single phase power with a double-pole breaker or time delay fuse. Have a licensed electrician verify your electrical service before your lift arrives.

Indoor Use Only

The DX77 is rated for indoor use only in environments between 41°F and 104°F. Do not install in uncovered outdoor locations or unheated buildings that drop below freezing.

Professional Installation Recommended

Professional installation by a qualified lift technician is strongly recommended, especially for flush mount configurations. Proper anchor bolt torque (40 ft-lbs), hydraulic connections, air supply setup, and platform synchronization are critical for safe operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

The DX77 is rated for vehicles up to 7,700 lbs (3,850 lbs per platform). This covers most passenger cars, sedans, coupes, crossovers, SUVs, and light trucks. The adjustable platform spacing (21 to 27 inches between platforms) accommodates different vehicle tread widths, and the flip-up ramps extend the platform length for longer wheelbase vehicles. Always verify your vehicle's weight against the lift's rated capacity before use.
The surface mount DX77-SURF sits on top of your existing concrete floor — the platforms stand 4½ inches high when fully lowered and rise to 74½ inches. The flush mount DX77-FLUSH is recessed into the floor so the platforms are completely level with the floor surface when lowered, with a 70-inch rise height. The flush mount is narrower (69½ inches wide vs 82 inches) because it doesn't need the surface-mount frame. Flush mount requires the DX77-FM installation kit and must be installed before the concrete is poured — it cannot be added to an existing floor.
On many scissor lifts, a crossmember connects the two platforms above the floor, creating an obstruction between them. The DX77's crossmember-free design eliminates this connecting bar entirely. Each platform operates as part of a synchronized dual-scissor system with no overhead structure between them. This gives technicians unrestricted access all around the vehicle and between the platforms — ideal for exhaust work, brake jobs, and any service that requires clear undercarriage access from multiple angles.
The DX77 requires a minimum 4-inch thick reinforced concrete slab with a compressive strength of at least 3,500 PSI, cured for a minimum of 28 days. The floor must be level within ⅜ inch over the installation area and free from cracks or seams at anchor bolt locations. No anchor bolts may be placed within 8 inches of any crack, edge, or expansion joint. For flush mount installations, the concrete specifications must be met during the pour since the DX77-FM kit is set before the concrete is placed.
Yes. Panther Lift provides professional lift installation services throughout the tri-state area and surrounding regions. Our installation team handles everything from concrete inspection and electrical prep to full lift assembly, hydraulic setup, and final safety testing. Contact us to schedule an installation or to get a quote for your location. Professional installation is especially recommended for flush mount configurations.
Daily maintenance includes cleaning all components and checking for loose or broken parts, hydraulic leaks, and spotting block condition. Weekly, clean around the base and platform areas. Monthly, torque all anchor bolts to 40 ft-lbs, inspect the concrete floor around anchor points, lubricate all slide tracks with heavy viscous grease, grease all pins, and check platform synchronization. The hydraulic system uses 4 gallons of 10-weight anti-foam hydraulic oil or Dexron III ATF. Refer to the DX77 Installation and Operation Manual for the complete maintenance schedule.
Yes. The DX77 uses a single point air actuated lock release that requires clean, dry compressed air at 90–120 PSI. This is a standard shop air requirement — most automotive service facilities already have a compressor that meets this specification. Without compressed air, you cannot operate the lock release mechanism.
The DX77 requires a dedicated 208–230V, single-phase, 30-amp circuit with a double-pole breaker or time delay fuse. The motor is rated at 2HP on 208-220V, 60Hz. Have a licensed electrician verify your shop's electrical service and install the dedicated circuit before the lift arrives.
Yes. The DX77 can accommodate electric vehicles within its 7,700 lb capacity rating. The IOM includes provisions for wider platform spacing beyond the standard 21-27 inch range specifically for wide electric vehicles with larger battery pack footprints. Refer to the DX77-SUP-T supplement for EV-specific platform spacing guidelines. Always use manufacturer-recommended lift points when servicing EVs.
The DX77 ships with the dual scissor platforms, reinforced diamond plate front and rear access ramps, a power unit console with three push-button controls (UP, DOWN, LOCK RELEASE), four 3-inch rubber spotting blocks, four 1½-inch rubber spotting blocks, and all mounting hardware. The flush mount model (DX77-FLUSH) also includes the DX77-FM flush mount installation kit. Hydraulic fluid is not included and must be purchased separately — the system takes 4 gallons of 10-weight anti-foam hydraulic oil or Dexron III ATF.
Challenger recommends a minimum bay size of 12 feet wide by 28 feet deep with a 12-foot minimum ceiling height. The surface mount model is 82 inches wide (6'10") and 83¼ inches long (6'11¼"). The flush mount is narrower at 69½ inches wide (5'9½"). You also need at least 144 inches (12 feet) of clearance from the lift to the nearest obstruction on all four sides for safe vehicle access and technician movement.
Yes. The DX77 is ALI certified, meaning it has been independently tested and verified to meet the safety and performance standards established by the Automotive Lift Institute. This certification is important for insurance compliance, OSHA requirements, and overall shop safety standards.
