Air Compressor Service & Installation

Rotary screw and reciprocating piston compressors serviced, rebuilt, sized, and installed. Any size, any brand.

If your shop runs on air, and they all do, a compressor going down stops everything: impact guns, air ratchets, blow-off, tire inflation, pneumatic lifts, paint booths, bead sealers. We service, repair, and rebuild compressors to keep your air supply reliable, and we size and install new ones. For the piping that carries the air to your bays, see shop air lines. All service work is on our service and repair page.

Rotary Screw Service

The standard for shops running multiple bays. Reliable and efficient, but they need their scheduled maintenance.

  • Airend rebuilds: bearing replacement, rotor inspection, and seal replacement on the compression element. Major work, but cheaper than a new compressor.
  • Separator element replacement: a clogged oil/air separator makes the compressor run hot, use more power, and push oil downstream.
  • Minimum pressure and thermal valves: a stuck pressure valve means low pressure and oil carryover; a failed thermal valve makes the compressor run too hot or too cold.
  • Cooler cleaning: clogged cooler fins mean high temperatures, shutdowns, and shorter compressor life.
  • Oil, filters, and belts: on schedule, with the right spec. Wrong oil or extended intervals kill airends.

Piston Compressor Service

Simpler machines that wear harder, common in smaller shops, single-bay setups, and as backup units. We replace valve plates and gaskets, rebuild pump heads (rings, gaskets, and valve plates as a set), service reed valves, repair unloader valves, and replace leaking head gaskets.

Motor & Electrical

Most "compressor won't start" calls are electrical, not mechanical. We size and install replacement motors with the correct HP, voltage, phase, and frame size; replace worn starters and contactors before they weld shut; diagnose why overloads trip; calibrate pressure switches to stop short-cycling; and install phase monitors on three-phase units.

Dryers, Filtration & Receiver Tanks

Moisture in the air line causes bad paint jobs, corroded tools, stuck valves, and rust in air cylinders. We service refrigerated and desiccant dryers, inline filters, and water separators. On receiver tanks we replace drain valves, test and replace safety relief valves on schedule, and inspect for corrosion. Severely corroded tanks get replaced, not patched.

Sizing & New Installs

We calculate total CFM demand across every bay and every piece of air-driven equipment, then add headroom for peak demand and growth. An undersized compressor runs out of air during busy hours. Most multi-bay shops need a rotary screw unit; piston compressors work for smaller operations or as backups. Compressors also need airflow, drainage, and maintenance access, so we spec the mechanical room requirements too.

Common Questions

Usually. It could be electrical (an undersized breaker, a bad contactor, a failing starter), mechanical (a seized valve or high head pressure), or the compressor may simply be undersized for the demand. We diagnose and fix it, or tell you if it's time for a bigger unit.

It depends on the type and how hard it runs. Rotary screw units typically need oil and filter service every 2,000 to 4,000 hours. Piston compressors need valve and ring service based on run hours. We'll set a schedule based on your actual usage.

Compressor down means the shop is down, so we prioritize compressor emergencies and carry common parts (contactors, pressure switches, belts, filters, drain valves) to get you running on the first trip when possible.
