Challenger 4018XFX — 18,000 lb Heavy-Duty 4-Post Lift

The Challenger 4018XFX is an 18,000 lb ALI-Certified heavy-duty 4-post lift built for shops that service full-size pickup trucks, cargo vans, box trucks, fleet vehicles, and other heavy-duty commercial vehicles up to 9 tons. The 4018XFX uses a proven cable-drive lifting system with 24-inch wide drive-on runways, a 220-inch maximum wheelbase capacity, and a 72-inch rise height reached in approximately 70 seconds — making it one of the fastest heavy-duty 4-post lifts in its class. The enclosed closed-front column design with front and rear crossbeams provides maximum structural rigidity for vehicles at or near the 18,000 lb rated capacity. A 3HP power unit operates on standard 208–230V single-phase power with a 30-amp dedicated circuit, and the single-point mechanical lock release with air-cylinder-operated locks across 17 height positions delivers secure, repeatable stops without manual lock bars. Like all 4-post lifts in the Challenger lineup, the 4018XFX requires a 90–120 PSI compressed air supply for lock operation.

Built for Heavy-Duty Fleet and Commercial Service

Where the 15,000 lb 4115 Series serves a mix of passenger vehicles and light trucks, the 4018XFX is purpose-built for the heavy end of the service bay. The 220-inch maximum wheelbase handles long-wheelbase crew cab trucks, extended cargo vans (Ford Transit, RAM ProMaster, Mercedes Sprinter), box trucks, and medium-duty commercial vehicles that smaller 4-post lifts can't accommodate. The 9 1/2-inch runway height provides additional ground clearance for rolling jacks and underbody access on taller vehicles, and the 40-inch gap between runways gives technicians room to work underneath with rolling creepers, jacks, and drain pans. The 303 3/8-inch overall length and 152 1/8-inch overall width require a minimum service bay of 14 feet wide by 24 feet deep with a ceiling height of at least 78 inches plus the height of the tallest vehicle you plan to service.

Lift Only or Complete Accessory Package

The 4018XFX is available in two configurations. The base lift-only model includes the complete 4-post lift structure, 3HP power unit, approach ramps, and front wheel stops. The 4018XFX PKG complete accessory package adds two 9,000 lb capacity rolling jacks (model RJ9A), one airline kit for air tool access at the lift, two fold-down wheel stops for rear tire positioning, and one work step for safe technician access to the vehicle at raised height. The rolling jacks are essential for brake, suspension, and tire work — they allow individual wheels to be lifted off the runway surface for service. The airline kit routes compressed air from your shop's supply to quick-connect fittings at the lift for impact wrenches and other pneumatic tools. For most shops, the PKG configuration is the recommended purchase — these accessories are needed for daily operation and are more cost-effective purchased as a package than individually.

Construction, Safety & Installation

The 4018XFX is built on enclosed steel columns with a closed-front crossbeam design that ties all four columns together for maximum frame rigidity under heavy loads. The cable-drive lifting system uses four steel lifting cables routed through the column assemblies, and eight glide bearings provide smooth, low-friction carriage travel. The air-cylinder-operated lock system engages automatically across 17 height positions and releases from a single point — no individual lock bars to set at each column. Installation requires a concrete floor that is a minimum of 6 inches thick with a compressive strength of 4,000 PSI or greater, steel-reinforced, free from cracks or seams, and cured at least 30 days — note that the 4018XFX has stricter concrete requirements than lighter 4-post lifts due to its higher capacity and concentrated column loads. A dedicated 208–230V, 30-amp single-phase circuit and 90–120 PSI compressed air supply are required. The 4018XFX ships at approximately 5,465 lbs — a forklift or loading dock is required at the delivery location. Professional installation by an authorized Panther Lift technician is available in the NJ, PA, and NY tri-state area.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 4018XFX is rated at 18,000 lbs and accommodates wheelbases up to 220 inches. This covers full-size crew cab pickup trucks (Ford F-250/F-350, RAM 2500/3500, Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD), long-wheelbase cargo vans (Ford Transit, RAM ProMaster, Mercedes Sprinter), box trucks, shuttle buses, and medium-duty commercial vehicles. The 24-inch wide runways handle the full range of commercial vehicle tire sizes, and the 9 1/2-inch runway height provides additional ground clearance for rolling jacks and underbody service equipment on taller vehicles.
The base 4018XFX includes the complete 4-post lift structure, 3HP power unit, approach ramps, and front wheel stops. The 4018XFX PKG adds five essential accessories: two RJ9A 9,000 lb rolling jacks for lifting individual wheels off the runway, one airline kit for routing compressed air to the lift, two fold-down wheel stops for rear tire positioning, and one work step for safe technician access at raised height. The rolling jacks are required for brake, suspension, and tire work, and the airline kit provides air tool access at the lift. For most shops, the PKG is the recommended configuration — these accessories are needed for daily operation and are more cost-effective as a package.
The 4018XFX requires a dedicated 208–230V, single-phase, 30-amp electrical circuit at 60Hz. In addition, the 4018XFX requires a compressed air supply of 90–120 PSI for the air-cylinder-operated lock system. This is a critical requirement — the lift cannot operate safely without a functioning air supply connected to the lock system. Confirm that your shop has an air compressor capable of sustaining 90–120 PSI before ordering. Have a licensed electrician verify your electrical panel can support the dedicated 30A circuit.
The 4018XFX has a maximum rise height of 72 inches (6 feet) with a rise time of approximately 70 seconds at the full 18,000 lb rated capacity. The 3HP cable-drive power unit operates at a maximum hydraulic pressure of 2,650 PSI. The 70-second rise time is notably fast for an 18,000 lb heavy-duty 4-post lift — most comparable lifts in this weight class are significantly slower.
The 4018XFX uses a cable-drive lifting system with four steel lifting cables routed through the enclosed column assemblies. A 3HP hydraulic power unit drives the cables, and eight glide bearings in the carriage assemblies provide smooth, low-friction vertical travel. The cable-drive design is a proven, reliable system used across Challenger's 4-post lift lineup. Cables should be inspected regularly per the maintenance schedule in the Installation & Operation Manual for wear, fraying, or damage, and replaced if any defects are found.
The 4018XFX requires a minimum service bay of 14 feet wide by 24 feet deep. The overall dimensions are 303 3/8 inches long (approximately 25 feet 3 inches) by 152 1/8 inches wide (approximately 12 feet 8 inches). The ceiling height must clear 78 inches (the rise height) plus the height of the tallest vehicle you plan to service. For a typical full-size pickup truck at around 6 feet 6 inches tall, you need approximately 12 feet 6 inches of ceiling clearance. Ensure a minimum of 3 feet of clearance around all sides of the lift for safe operation and technician access.
The 4018XFX has stricter concrete requirements than lighter 4-post lifts due to its 18,000 lb capacity and concentrated column loads. The concrete floor must be a minimum of 6 inches thick (not 4 inches like many smaller lifts) with a compressive strength of 4,000 PSI or greater, steel-reinforced, free from cracks or seams within the anchor zone, and cured for at least 30 days. No anchor bolt may be placed within 6 inches of any crack, edge, or expansion joint. The floor must be level and the concrete must extend at least 18 inches from the garage door opening. If your existing slab does not meet these requirements, a dedicated concrete pad can be poured to spec before installation.
The Challenger 4018XFX is available in Black. The runways and approach ramps feature the standard Challenger yellow/black safety striping for high-visibility marking of the drive-on surfaces and lift edges.
Beyond the PKG bundle, individual accessories available for the 4018XFX include: 9K rolling jacks (model RJ9A) for lifting individual wheels off the runway for brake and tire work, an 18K airline kit for routing compressed air from your shop supply to the lift, a 32-gallon adjustable oil drain pan for under-lift oil changes, fold-down wheel stops for rear tire positioning, a work step for safe technician access at height, and a light bar kit for illuminating the underbody work area. The rolling jacks and airline kit are considered essential for most service operations.
Yes. The Challenger 4018XFX is ALI Certified, meaning it has been independently tested and validated by the Automotive Lift Institute to meet the ANSI/ALI ALCTV safety standard. ALI Certification is the industry gold standard for automotive lift safety and is required by many insurance providers and shop inspection authorities for commercial lift installations.
Yes. Panther Lift provides professional installation services for the 4018XFX in the NJ, PA, and NY tri-state area. Due to the size and weight of this lift — the 4018XFX ships at approximately 5,465 lbs — professional installation is strongly recommended. Our factory-trained technicians handle concrete inspection, anchoring, hydraulic and electrical connections, air line plumbing, lock system calibration, cable tensioning, safety testing, and operational training. Contact us to schedule an installation or request a quote.
Regular maintenance includes daily visual inspections of the cables, lock mechanism, runways, and approach ramps for wear or damage. Weekly, check the hydraulic fluid level, inspect the air supply lines and fittings for leaks, verify the compressed air pressure reads 90–120 PSI, and inspect all four lifting cables for fraying, kinking, or broken strands. Monthly, inspect the glide bearings for wear, torque all concrete anchor bolts, lubricate all pivot points and carriage slide tracks with heavy viscous grease per the IOM schedule, and test the lock engagement at multiple heights. Cable inspection is particularly critical on a cable-drive lift — replace any cable that shows visible wear or damage immediately. Refer to the Challenger 4018XFX Installation & Operation Manual for the full maintenance schedule and torque specifications.
